Managing your Shop account and data
Your Shop account includes your contact details, connects you to Shop Pay, order tracking, and shopping. This page covers updating your account settings, opting out of Shop Pay, deleting your Shop account, and erasing your personal data from Shop. Because each action affects your account differently, review what changes before you make a decision.

Updating your Shop account settings
Your Shop account settings include your email address, phone number, and name.
Changing your Shop account email address
Your email address is your Shop account's unique identifier, and can't be changed. To use a different email address for Shop, create a new account and delete your existing account.
Changing your Shop account phone number
To change the phone number in your Shop account settings, refer to Change your Shop Pay phone number.
Updating your name in Shop
The name associated with your Shop account is used to identify your account during sign-in, and syncs to online stores when you sign in to your customer account using Shop. You can update your first and last name from your Shop account settings in the Shop app or on the Shop website.
Steps:
Shop app
From the Shop app in the
tab, tap the Account icon.
Tap
Settings > Account & login.
Tap Name.
In the dialog, update your name, and then tap Save.
Web browser
On a web browser, sign in to Shop.
Go to the Account & login page.
Click the Name field.
In the dialog, update your name, and then click Save.
Opting out of Shop Pay or deleting your Shop account
Opting out of Shop Pay and deleting your Shop account are different actions. Before making changes to your Shop account, review each section to determine whether you want to opt out of Shop Pay, or delete your Shop account.
Opting out of Shop Pay
Opt out of Shop Pay when you want to stop using Shop Pay as a payment method, but still want to keep your Shop account for order tracking and shopping.
When you opt out of Shop Pay, your phone number and stored data are deleted from Shop Pay. You no longer have access to the following features:
- Accelerated checkout on stores that offer Shop Pay as a payment method
- Earning Shop Cash
- Access to any remaining Shop Cash balance that you've earned
- Shop Pay Installments
You can still use Shop to track your orders and shop. If you want to use Shop Pay again after opting out, then sign in to Shop with your email address and phone number.
To opt out of Shop Pay, enter your mobile number in the Shop Pay opt-out form, and then tap Submit request.
Deleting your Shop account
Delete your Shop account when you no longer want to use your Shop account, Shop Pay, order tracking, or shopping features in the Shop app.
Deleting your Shop account removes your email address, phone number, and other data from Shop. After you delete your Shop account, you no longer have access to the following features:
- Any Shop Cash that you've earned
- Shop Pay
- Shop Pay Installments
- Delivery tracking updates in the Shop app
- Shopping features in the Shop app
Deleting your Shop account doesn't erase personal data from any stores that you purchased from. To use Shop again after deleting your account, you need to create a new Shop account.
You can delete your Shop account in the Shop app or on a web browser.
Steps:
Shop app
From the Shop app in the
tab, tap the Account icon.
Tap
Settings > Data and privacy.
Tap Delete account > Delete account.
In the Are you sure you want to delete your account? dialog, tap Delete account.
Web browser
To delete your Shop account using a web browser, sign in to your Shop account at https://shop.app/opt-out, and then follow the prompts to delete your account.
Erase your personal data from Shop
If you use Shop or Shop Pay and want to erase your personal data, then go to the Shopify Privacy controls and click Erase my data. This doesn't erase personal data from any stores that you purchased from.
