You can use the Shop app to track orders with a valid tracking number. After you add an order to the app, Shop uses information from the carrier to provide you with tracking updates.
How orders are added to the Shop App
Orders populate in your Shop app a few different ways:
- Automatic tracking for orders from a Shopify store: If you use the same email address for your Shop account and your orders from a Shopify store, then your order will automatically populate in the Shop app.
- Automatic tracking with Shop Pay: Orders paid for using Shop Pay automatically populate in your Shop app.
- Connecting your email: If you choose to connect an email account (such as Gmail or Outlook) to Shop, the app searches for emails with keywords such as “tracking number” and “track your package,” going back up to 30 days. After the order is tracked in Shop, you'll receive updates provided by the shipping carrier. Shop uses read access to find order and shipping information, and doesn't permanently store any email content.
- Manual order entry: If you don't connect an email, or don't want to give Shop access to your email, then you can manually add tracking information.
- Email forwarding: You can also forward order tracking emails to a Shop-provided email address.
To learn more about the information Shop collects, refer to the Shop app user privacy policy.
Orders from stores not in the Shop network
Not all orders from stores outside the Shop network are automatically tracked, because Shop is unable to read some tracking emails properly.
If an order doesn't automatically populate in the Shop app, then you can add the order manually or forward the shipping email to your unique Shop forwarding email address.
