Sync your shopping cart

After you opt in to shopping activity syncing, your shopping cart syncs between your sessions on participating online stores, the Shop app, and the Shop website when you do any of the following:

  • Select Shop Pay as a payment method at cart or checkout.
  • Sign in with Shop to your customer account on a participating online store that offers Shop Pay as a payment method.
  • Visit a participating online store after being signed in with Shop on a Chrome or Chromium browser, regardless of whether you're signed in with your Shop account on that online store.

Cart syncing starts when you create a cart on an online store, and then syncs to Shop. Carts initiated on the Shop app or Shop website don't sync to the online store. However, after a cart has synced from an online store to Shop, cart updates display both in Shop and your online store cart.

Considerations for syncing your shopping cart

Review the following considerations about syncing your shopping cart:

  • The most recently updated cart takes precedence over older carts.
  • Products must be available on both platforms to sync. Products that are available only on the Shop app or only on the online store won't sync between carts.
  • When you're signed out of Shop, cart syncing pauses until you sign in with Shop during your next shopping session.

Turn on cart syncing

To sync your shopping cart, turn on the Sync shopping activity toggle in your data and privacy settings.
